AFRICAN WEDDINGS ARE LIT!!! I had to make that statement first before I continued on with this blog post lol. This past weekend I attended my first traditional African wedding for my angel in the skys’ big sister Christelle Bakatukanda, well Chiza now! Let me tell you it was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had: from trying new food, learning new dances and traditions, and feeling like an african princess in this amazing dress. The wedding was simply beautiful.

Congolese renaissance was the theme of the wedding because the happy newlyweds are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Christelle was born in Kananga and her family is from Kananga, Kasai Ociendatele which is southwest of the Congo. Ruben was born in Kinshasa and his family is from Bukavu, Sud Kivu which is East of the Congo. This LUBA woman and BASHI man have an undeniable love and clear sense of style.

At a traditional wedding usually African print uniforms are worn; a print that represents brides family and a print that represents the grooms family. Stelle, being the wonderful person she is, purchased a print straight from Congo for her little sisters closest friends. We got our favorite designs brought to life by a family friend and African seamstress, Mama Lydie. Guys, shes literally the bomb and the process from start to finish is smooth. If you need an custom African outfit made she’s at the top of my recommedation list! You can place your order with her @ 404-438-0588.
