The Donut + Dog is serving up donuts and hot dogs with a twist. You won't find any boring combinations of ingredients when it comes to each dish, so for those who don't want to broaden their palette this blog post isn't for you! But, for all my foodies out there get ready to have your taste buds satisfied.

THE DONUT

The donuts here are far from your average donuts. The type of donuts made are 20 hour brioche donuts because it takes 20 hours to make the dough, I know insane! To me these types of donuts are light but rich. They don't make every donut from the menu everyday but there's a good variety to choose from. I tried Parrot Head which is coated in ginger salt and sugar, topped with toasted coconut flakes, and key lime custard in the middle.

( I dropped my key lime custard trying to get the best picture for "the gram," smh. )

I also tried their most popular donut which is Stairway to Heaven it has brown butter glaze, pink himalayan salt, and topped with a raspberry.

+ DOGS

The dogs here are 100% local and organic, which is big plus because the ingredients are fresh. Creativity wasn't missed when creating these dogs because some of these ingredients I never thought twice to put on my hot dog. For example, I ordered the Elote Loco, this is the hot dog version of Mexican street corn. Made with a chorizo dog and topped with roasted sweet corn, cotija, chipotle powder, cilantro, and lime. This was honestly the best hot dog i've ever tasted. I paired my dog with some delicious truffle-parm fries.

My boyfriend order the B.A.T a bacon wrapped hot dog with avocado, tomatoes, and basil-sriracha aioli. He also agree's that this is the best hot dog he's ever tasted. He decided to choose as his side chicharrones and queso (flash fried pork rinds and cheese). Let me be honest I was a little unsure about trying these but i'm so glad I did. Just like described on the menu, nachos that never get soggy.

The Donut + Dog is definitely a restaurant you must go to whenever you're in Nashville, Tennessee. It has a inviting, relaxing, and home-like vibe and thats because it was built in an home. With delicious food and great customer service you won't be disappointed!
