I know I haven't wrote to you guys in over a month, but i'm still trying to get into the blogger lifestyle on top of work and filming episodes of my web talk show (Kicking it with KClo). Never fret, I just recently returned from visiting my best friend in Washington, District of Columbia and I have a quite a bit of content for you guys.
I've been to DC before but each time was to cheer at college football games, so I never really had the chance to explore DC the way I wanted to. Now, I can successfully say I have conquered DC. Had a few first experiences, intense lituations, ate... A LOT and made lifetime memories with some of my best gals.
FOOD
The food scene in DC is tad bit overwhelming. There so many different options to choose from but here are some of my recommendations:
1. Culture Coffee Too - Is a very cute coffee shop on the corner of Riggs Road. Black owned which is a plus! With a breakfast and lunch menu that is unique and extremely diverse. I decided to try the Bagel and Loc's because I'm totally obsessed with smoked salmon! I paired it with a green smoothie, but what was so unique about the smoothie (at least to me) is the usage of mixed greens instead of the average options of spinach and/or kale.

2. Pho 88 Noodle and Grill - If your looking to spice up your palet and try something new, you would love the traditional vietnamese food at Pho 88! Now if you're not a fan of too much heat, I suggest trying the spicy noodle soup which only has a little bit of kick. If you're about that life the seasoned beef la mian is definitely for you.
3. Ben's Chili Bowl - Ben's Chili is a landmark in DC. This gem was founded in 1958 by Trinidadian immigrant and Howard grad, Ben Ali and then fiance, Viriginia Rollins. They're known for their chili dogs, half-smoke, and milk-shakes.
4. Dukem - I was so sleep on Ethiopian food but #iamwoke now! Dukem is one of DC's best known Ethiopian spots and after eating it I understand why. Try the Dukem special lamb tips with a tomato salad and awaize on the side (because it is hella SPICY) !
5. Alero - Some of the best fajitas I've had in a while. Make sure you try their $6 happy hour drinks!
ISSA VIBE
On this trip I was definitely on go mode. As soon as I landed in Baltimore (it's cheaper to fly to BWI) my best friend picked me up and we headed straight to a Rico Nasty concert at Sound Stage Baltimore.

The next day we decided to spend the day in Chinatown. In Chinatown you can find a great deal of Chinese and Asian cuisine (this is where you can find Pho 88). Make sure to take a picture in front of the famous traditional Chinese arch also known as the Friendship Arch.
If you're looking for day party fun, Ozio's is the place to be. Good music, happy hour specials, hookah, and good vibes. Make sure you try the Washington Apple!

GETTING AROUND
I recommend taking the metro at least one day to really get the feel of what its like to live in DC. Trust me you wont regret it. It's faster especially if you're headed out during traffic hours... you can avoid tickets, tows, and boots (because who wants to deal with that on vacation) ;)
Another way of exploring the city is renting city bikes. I'm so glad we did this because it reminded me of how much I enjoyed riding bikes when I was a kid. It also doubles as a workout because DC has a great deal of hills. I suggest renting for 24 hours and it will only cost you $8!

That's it for this post guys but if you're ever in DC and try any of my recommendations I would love to see and hear about your experience! Tag me in your pics (@KapturedbyKClo)!
xoxo, K.Clo
